This expanded issue explores contemporary mosaic and glass practice through studio features, interviews, and critical essays, highlighting how artists are reinterpreting traditional techniques in new and experimental ways. It revisits previously featured makers to track the evolution of their work, while also profiling artists such as Pinkie Maclure and others working in picassiette, sculptural mosaic, and related forms. Alongside historical reflection on ancient Roman mosaics and theoretical discussions of mosaic as a visual “grammar,” the issue situates the medium within both heritage and contemporary art contexts. It concludes with practical insights on tools and on-site installation, balancing conceptual exploration with hands-on craft knowledge.
