Crystal Chips are gemstones, such as amethyst, tourmaline and rose quartz. These chips are perfect for mosaic jewellery, micro mosaic or as fillers for small spaces within your mosaic.
Using Agate Gemstone slices can enhance your mosaic. For the Smalti beginner this is a great way of trying out Smalti, because you only have to follow the Agate shape around, mirroring some of the colours within the gemstone. Have a look at the photo below, this is a mosaic Carol Hill from South Australia created and it looks stunning.
Mosaic Bazaar is working hard to get ready for the mosaic symposium in Hobart in August. Sample bags are being packed to go into the symposium bags and sample boxes are being made. We are very excited to be there, this is the first symposium Mosaic Bazaar will attend as a vendor , since the launch last year. Hope to see lots of passionate mosaic artists there.
Fusing Italian Smalti in a kiln is a bit like Christmas, you can't wait to open the kiln to see how they turned out. They really look like lollies. The colours of the fusions are beautiful and vibrant and they are now for sale on this website.
I always wanted to experiment with firing smalti in a kiln and I finally had time to give this a go. Very interesting result, using a full fusion.
